Life in the Fast Lane

It seems like we have been running non stop since April. With Alex getting out of the Army, both of us moving to Utah, getting things settled here, getting his son out here with us...And of course all the other things in between, it seriously feels like I've been living in some sort of whirlwind.

Things are going good. Alex and I have both been really busy with work. We both work in the city, so it's been kind of a drag having to do the commute on both ends. It makes it hard getting home so late in the evening. He gets home a little earlier than I do, but it feels like I don't ever get home in time to get ANYTHING done. Ugh. No fun. On the plus side of all of that, we both LOVE our jobs, so that makes things a lot better to deal with. We both love what we do, and the people we work with. I have to say we are truly blessed in that way...not a lot of people are able to say that.

Alex's son has been doing good. He has a long way to come, but I really think it's just a matter of him needing really good role models in his life...and people who will actually PARENT him. He's been getting into trouble quite a bit, but we're hoping things calm down soon, and that we can get him into the doctor. It has definitely been a learning experience for us all. The last time Alex had his son, his son was just barely 4, and he's now almost 7. Neither of us were really prepared for how he would act (mainly because of how he's been treated the past few years), but we take it day by day. We have an awesome family out here who helps out so much. My little sister babysits for us during the week. I wouldn't feel right NOT paying her, so she does make some moolah (which is awesome for a 15 year old girl..I've been there). My Dad loves playing "Grandpa" which is great, but can sometimes be a little much when he thinks he can give into every little thing the little man wants, even when we have rules. Ahh, grandparents. We have the most amazing friends (who we both consider family), Ash and Craig, who have really made it a goal to help the little one feel included and a part of everything out here. They made him a "Welcome" sign and got him a big ol' basket of toys and goodies. He's definitely loved around here.

Aside from working and living a crazy home life, I've been loving every second of Ashley's wedding planning. I love planning weddings, and pretty much all things wedding related. It's just what I do. It's been such an amazing journey and I can honestly say I can NOT WAIT for their big day. So soon!

I have been really trying to keep up on my blog (and blog stalking), but it's been a little slow lately. I have joined a new website that has so many awesome things for DIY crafts, recipes, etc. Love it. I have also started following a blog recently about a woman who cooked dinner in her crockpot everyday for a year. I'm making my list of her recipes to try since a crockpot is definitely the way to go for this little family...such an easy way to get dinner made when we both aren't home until late. Yes!

I know on my last blog post, I promised to put two new recipes up, but I just haven't had the spare time. I plan to tonight when I get my laptop charged though, so definitely stay tuned.
