Oh Boy!

So much has been going on around here lately!

Finally got the date for Alex to be here...Only took about FOREVER. Been totally putting off the apartment stuff, because I just feel lonely over there by myself. I can't have it all packed and messy for Alex, so I better get my butt in gear. We got some crap Army news and actually have to pay out of pocket for a number of things we weren't expecting. Thank goodness for savings (and reimbursements, whenever the Army gets around to it).

Not so new BREAKING NEWS: Osama bin Laden has been killed! I repeat, Osama bin Laden has been killed! About 25 Navy Seals working along closely with the CIA, raided Osama's million-dollar mansion in Abbottabad. Was he hiding in a cave somewhere? No. He was less than 100 miles away from Pakistan's capital, Islamabad. Hiding in plain sight, for a better explanation. It was believed for a while that the cave scene everyone portrayed him to be a part of, wasn't true. What do you know? He was hiding in a community. Around many innocent people. Makes me sick to think about it.

I'm truly glad that we have made this progress. It has been TOO LONG, too much of a waiting game. Those Navy Seals that bravely went in to that mansion need to be applauded for their hard efforts in the firefight that ensued. I think many people need to be applauded. President Obama needs to be applauded as well. No, he wasn't on the ground with those Seals, but he made a judgment call that was both ballsy and necessary. You see, he didn't have clearance with Pakistan to invade like he did. He had no permission from that country's officials. Pakistan was in contact with us and cooperating over other things, but President Obama made a stand. A risky one, since there was no guarantee that bin Laden would be captured/killed, but he made it none the less. I also think all the Intelligence Operatives need to be applauded as well. If they hadn't had the brains and guts to follow a tiny lead the Pakistanis passed along to us (thinking it wasn't "good" information), they would have never investigated bin Laden's compound. It would never have been staked out and no plan would have been formed for attack.

There are many players in all of this, and all of them deserve their due. We are a United Nation for a reason. Everyone comes together to make sure things get done. I think it's pretty awesome that within two years of being in office, Obama, who stated when he was first inaugurated that finding bin Laden was going to be his top priority, pulled it off. It didn't take 8 years and a bunch of other random wars to finish the deal. Is it over? Hell no. The US, and especially our men and women in the Armed Forces, need to tread carefully. Al-Qaeda is not finished. There are many more people behind al-Qaeda, ready to move forward in their terrorist acts. Bin Laden was not working alone and from my understanding, had actually already passed his terror-loving torch onto another al-Qaeda member to continue his "work". I wish things were easy, and everyone could be pulled home, and we could let those countries duke it out among themselves. As horrible as that sounds, there's days where I really think we need to stop butting into things that don't technically concern us (minus bin Laden). Those countries have been at war amongst each other for years.

I am a political hound. I have loved learning and "arguing" politics since I was in Jr High. We used to have to debate on political issues in my US Government/History class. It really brought me into it all. I especially got involved this past election. It was my first Presidential election that I could take part in. I seemed to lean more toward the Democrat side of things. Will I call myself a full blown Democrat? No. I'm an Independent Party. I enjoy listening to both sides of it all, and deciding what I most agree with, paying no mind to party names. Just so happened everything I thought was right and fair this past election, was led by both Obama and Clinton. I hope Clinton runs again next year, cause I fully think she would kick some trash. As much as I love politics (mostly), I don't think I have the patience to be a Politician. A Politician needs to have the courage to stand up for what they believe in...I could handle that. However, I couldn't handle keeping my temper in check. Probably wouldn't be possible. I think I could handle being a political advisor to someone though. Oh yeeesss! I'll get off my soapbox now!

It was a big day for our Nation, and I fully support everyone involved. I appreciate and love our many men and women both here and abroad fighting for our rights. I appreciate the kind of government we have in this country (give or take a few things that irk me) because it allows me to live how I would like to live. I couldn't imagine it any other way.

I'll be posting apartment pictures soon!
