Some days I feel like the whole world is against us. I know that sounds like most people and their plea to be heard, but I really feel like we have THE WORST luck.
This weekend made me feel so much better about our luck...Or our lack of it.
Our car out here has been seriously screwy lately. Transmission fluid had been leaking out at an alarming rate. Every 2 days we were having to refill. That's ridiculous!!! On Saturday while I was at work, Alex and Thayn decided to have a man date to get under the car and figure some stuff out. Of course, my thoughts instantly led to a crack in the transmission or any other "worst possibly outcomes". We absolutely HAD to figure it out and get it fixed. The Army won't ship vehicles if they have leaks or anything. Joy. Thank goodness the boys got it figured out. The gasket under the transmission and the tray that covers it were loose. I guess the gasket itself had pretty much eroded away. After a $70 purchase for parts, our car is now all better!
Yesterday was Mallory's baby shower. She had one back home, but of course the friends here couldn't make it to that one!!! It was small, but she got the last things she needed, so that was good. I have pictures, but haven't uploaded them just yet.
I have been working WAY too much. I am with my at-home job 40 hours a week (sometimes more depending on over time availability) and I've been at my job here on base 6 days a week (roughly about 30 hours a week). 70 hours is soo much! It's paying off and definitely helping us out, so I'm grateful I have the opportunity to do both. I'm hoping when we go back home, I have good luck with a job too.
I still can't believe I will be home in a month. It's definitely a bitter sweet feeling. I'll be leaving behind some friends, but I'm leaving behind the memories of Alex and I's first year together here on the island. I know this next leg of our adventure will be just as fun, if not more so.
