Exploring

My Mom and Boo (Baby Brother) made it out to Hawaii in one piece. They came in at about 5:30 Monday night after a LONG plane ride. My Mom, of course, didn't get a wink of sleep the whole time. Boo said he slept a little, but it just wasn't comfortable enough to sleep much. Alex and I got a little mixed up at the airport and ended up being a few minutes late. No, they didn't wait long, but in my dream airport pick up moment, we were going to be waiting at baggage claim for them with their leis. They still got their leis, and we were all so happy to see each other.

That first night they were here, we hit up Chilis. It's close to home, quick, and easy. The two of them were tired so I wanted to get them home as soon as I could.

The next morning I had to work. I was off at 1:00pm and we headed out to North Shore. We stopped by The Dole Plantation on the way. We went on the Pineapple Express and were suckered in to getting a pearl from an oyster. Boo got a pink pearl (then convinced my mother to buy a setting and necklace along with it) for his girlfriend, Alex got a pink pearl for me, and Mom got a free black pearl. So pretty. We tried to get some Dole Whip (AMAZING PINEAPPLE ICE CREAM!), but the line was way too long, so we just looked around the gift shop for a while, then headed on our way

After The Dole Plantation, we headed to North Shore. We stopped in Haleiwa first. Mom and I walked along the beach while the boys walked out on the lave rocks to look out into the ocean. We all got to see some sea turtles (from a distance) so that was really neat. We stopped at Matsumoto's to get some famous shaved ice. They put ice cream in the bottom of the snow cone and it is absolutely amazing. So yummy. After the shaved ice we walked around some little shops before we headed out to Waimea Bay and Sunset Beach. We walked along Sunset Beach watching the waves and the surfers surfing. The sun was starting to set, so it was so pretty. Afterward, we trekked to the commissary to get some much needed groceries. It was pay day, so of course the place was overly crowded and psychotic!

I worked both jobs yesterday, so Alex took Mom and Boo out to North Shore again. Alex and Boo went snorkeling while my Mom played in the sand and relaxed for a while. My Mom got Alex and I boogie boards for future use, so hopefully we get to use them a bit within the next couple of months.

On today's agenda, we are going to Halona Cove and Makapu'u Point. We are hoping to see whales, since it is whale season here in Hawaii. This will be my first time seeing these two places as well, so I'm sure we will have a good time. The beaches over there are beautiful from what I have been told.

I was hoping to get some pictures up, but I promise I will have some for my next update. I got a few one our first adventure and of course will have some from today as well. Stay tuned.

I hope everyone reading this is enjoying your Thursday!!
