I've been really missing home lately. Missing friends, missing families, missing my life there. I decided to compile a nice list of all the reasons I'm missing Utah. Maybe that will help me feel a little better (doubt it, but it's worth a try!).
My Dad and Sierra- I miss just being able to see them whenever I want to. It's entirely true when people say you don't know what you had until it's gone. Even though Dad and I had some issues from time to time, I still took for granted that he was there...My family. Same goes for my little sister. Just knowing that she's going through some hard times with her home life and of course the lovely days of entering her Freshman year of High School, it makes me sad that I'm missing out on that. I know I'll be back that way soon, but it doesn't feel soon enough some times. I miss our family movie dates at home and at the theater. I miss driving around with Sierra while we pick up fast food and discuss random things that are playing on the radio. I miss dinners with Dad during the week. I just miss them both in general and can't wait to see them!
Ashley and Craig- These two practically saved my life at one point. I was in a miserable living situation and an over all miserable period in my life. These two took me under their wing and took care of me. Moved me out of my house and into Ashley's apartment, hung out with me when everyone else seemed to SUCK. I miss both of them...almost equally! Of course Ashley and I were a little bit closer. We lived together and have a lot in common. I miss our "partying days". I miss our trips to the city just to grab a bite to eat from somewhere new. I miss our apartment. I miss our crazy moments (like when we got ourselves trapped in the hallway of our apartment because of there was a flying bug). I can't wait to see them either....I'm going to give both of them a big hug. And I'm going to give Johnny Cash and Miss Lyric kisses. :)
All the rest of my Utah homeboys/homegirls- We had some good times and great moments! I love them all and can't wait to hang out again. I can't wait to meet their new babies, new significant others, whatever the case may be.
Utah prices- No one can entirely understand the ridiculous prices of Hawaii unless you've been here. Not only that, but after living here, it sucks EVEN WORSE! Everything here is about 2 dollars more...if not more. McDonalds and Wendys do not have a dollar meal out here. It's like a 1.49 plus tax. Little Ceasar's is not $5 for a pepperoni pizza, it's about $7. Same with Dominos. Groceries out here are ridiculous. If you are looking for a frozen pizza from Walmart, bet your booty you'll be spending about $8. Shampoo, conditioner, and all other necessities are the same way. Hair Salons are HORRIBLE. $120 bucks for color (no cut!), you must be out of your damn mind! I miss how cheap Utah was. How cheap rent was, utilities, groceries, going out to eat. I'm so looking forward to being back to the MAINLAND!
LaFrontera- My love...How I've missed you. There are no decent Mexican food places here in Hawaii. None even compare to LaFrontera. Nor, do they even compare to things like Cafe Rio, Red Iguana, etc. I need a good Mexican food fix.
Olive Garden- There is NO OLIVE GARDEN ON ISLAND. I repeat, NO OLIVE GARDEN ON ISLAND. Enough said.
Tooele- I never thought I would be one to say I miss Tooele, but I do. I miss knowing a lot of people (and usually seeing them in Walmart haha). I miss knowing exactly where I was going through town. I miss that it was small, but still had some stuff to do nearby. I miss Main Street. I miss all the little scarpbooking shops throughout town (Have yet to find a good one here!).
The City- The people, the buildings, the places to eat, the movies. You name it, I miss it. Movies out here in Hawaii are 7.50 for a matinee. Ya, that's not awesome! I miss downtown SLC, Sandy, even the slums of Magna. I know everything there..Never got lost (Ok, give or take a few times!), but it's a grid system. Easy to get out of sticky situations. Hawaii is on no system. It's just a bunch of random roads that all come together somewhere, eventually. Hawaii is also famous for horrible road conditions, too much construction, and of course toooo many one way roads.
Sweet Tomatoes- Salad Heaven! That will be spot numero dos on my list of places to eat. I seriously see a trend of food stuff going on here. I miss all good food. Hawaii is lacking.
My stuff- I miss all my stuff. I have enough to furnish my own apartment and not one of those things is here. I miss my bed, my tv, everything pretty much. I'm going to cry happy tears of joy when I see all my belongings.
There's much more I could list, but as I was hoping, I'm worn out from my missing Utah. I still miss it, but now I'm not so sad. I'm sure most people question why I stayed here in the first place, when I could always go back. One, money is tight. Two, I love someone who HAS to be here, so that makes life a little tough. Three, I made my bed..Now I must lie in it.
Ahh La Frontara, and Red Iguana! And Olive Garden.. MMMM. I think when Me, you and Meow are all back on the mainland, we should have La Frontara parties as often as possible.
